Field CTO, Financial Services AI Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Act as the technical representative of Nebius for clients in the financial services sector, including customers, partners, and ecosystem stakeholders.

• Facilitate architecture workshops and technical discovery sessions with CTOs, heads of quantitative and machine learning platforms, and CIOs.

• Collaborate with Sales leadership to secure strategic financial services agreements.

• Perform workload-level cost assessments comparing on-premises solutions with hyperscaler alternatives.

• Engage with Security, GRC, and Legal teams on due diligence for regulated buyers.

• Address various concerns such as data residency, tenant isolation, key management, audit logging, evidence of resilience, concentration risk, and plans for exit and portability.

• Identify technical gaps and communicate them to the Product team as requirements.

• Establish reference architectures for quantitative research, real-time risk and fraud inference, LLM and agentic workflows, and fine-tuning processes involving sensitive data.

• Convert insights from accounts into prioritized requirements for Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams.

• Develop technical narratives, reference architectures, and training materials for Field Solutions Architects and sales teams.

• Collaborate with ecosystem vendors to uncover integration possibilities and assess potential technical M&A targets.

• Build and lead engineers in forward-deployed roles as the vertical expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, distributed systems, or a closely related technical field.

• More than 5 years in AI, ML, or MLOps with experience in production or large-scale systems.

• Previous experience in a senior technical leadership position, such as Field CTO, CTO, technical co-founder, head of quant or ML platform, or principal architect.

• Proven track record of collaborating with Sales to finalize large enterprise contracts and empowering field teams with technical resources.

• Experience in defining requirements based on field insights and shaping platform strategy accordingly.

• Expert-level, production-grade knowledge of GPU architectures, Kubernetes, and Slurm orchestration, including Soperator.

• Familiarity with high-performance and parallel file systems.

• Understanding of InfiniBand and Ethernet networking limitations.

• Knowledge of model serving, batch sizes, quantization, KV caching, and latency tradeoffs.

• Direct experience in at least one technical domain within financial services.

• Working knowledge of regulated-buyer evaluations, covering data residency, third-party and concentration risk, and model risk management expectations.

• Conference presentations, publications, or contributions to open-source projects that demonstrate technical credibility.

• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence product teams and leadership effectively.

• Experience working in fast-paced environments.

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States.

• Preferred: hands-on experience with quantitative research infrastructure, low-latency trading systems, or model risk management within a regulated institution.

• Preferred: familiarity with hybrid and on-premises GPU setups.
