
Technical Sales Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Plan, prepare, and conduct live software demonstrations for the Rocscience product suite, customized to meet customer applications, industries, and engineering challenges.
• Lead technical discovery discussions to gain insights into customer workflows and challenges.
• Identify suitable Rocscience solutions and provide hands-on demonstrations.
• Support the sales process through evaluations, trials, and proofs of concept.
• Assist the sales team in qualifying and advancing opportunities.
• Serve as a technical point of contact for customer inquiries.
• Offer practical advice on modeling techniques, workflows, and geotechnical applications.
• Foster trusted relationships with customers.
• Conduct software training, technical workshops, and courses throughout the APAC region.
• Represent Rocscience at conferences, industry events, customer meetings, and technical forums.
• Share customer feedback and insights with Sales, Technical Services, Product, and Engineering teams.
• Report directly to the Sales Director, APAC.
• A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of five years of experience in an engineering-related position.
• Strong practical experience with RS3, including proven expertise in 3D finite element modeling of geotechnical issues.
• A solid foundation in geotechnical and rock mechanics principles, encompassing slope stability, finite element analysis, limit equilibrium, settlement, groundwater, and rock and soil behavior.
• A customer-focused mindset, complemented by strong listening and discovery abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to explain complex technical concepts, assumptions, reliability, and risk to diverse audiences.
• Confidence in presenting and demonstrating technical content to individuals and groups.
• Willingness to travel within Australia and occasionally internationally.
• Highly regarded: Expertise in open-pit slope stability and rock mechanics, particularly within the Australian mining and resources sector.
• Highly regarded: Familiarity with the broader Rocscience product suite, including Slide2, Slide3, RS2, Settle3, RSPile, RocSlope2, RocSlope3, RocFall2, RocFall3, and Dips.
• Highly regarded: Previous experience in technical sales, applications engineering, product specialist, or geotechnical consulting roles.
• Highly regarded: Hands-on site or operational experience in mining, tunneling, or civil infrastructure projects.
• Highly regarded: Experience in delivering software training, technical courses, workshops, or conference presentations.
