Technical Director – Transportation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Direct the strategic vision, growth, technical proficiency, and organizational performance of a Practice Area.

• Set standards, methodologies, governance frameworks, and quality expectations.

• Act as the technical escalation point for complex, high-risk, high-value, and strategically important engagements.

• Oversee technical governance, quality assurance, peer reviews, audits, risk management, and initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Propel innovation, capability enhancement, technical differentiation, thought leadership, and investments in services, technologies, and methodologies.

• Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, emerging technologies, and client requirements.

• Cultivate organizational technical capability and encourage knowledge sharing and professional standards.

• Collaborate with Growth, Commercial, and People & Delivery leaders on growth strategies, market opportunities, workforce investments, and client needs.

• Forge strategic relationships with clients, industry partners, and key stakeholders.

• Assist in strategic pursuits, account expansion, integrated client solutions, and the commercialization of new capabilities.

• Guide and nurture Technical Managers and technical professionals through performance expectations, mentoring, and leadership development.

• Align staffing strategies, workforce planning, technical capabilities, and resources with client requirements and strategic priorities.

• Support recruiting, succession planning, talent management, and project delivery escalation efforts.

• Promote communication, collaboration, continuous learning, inclusion, professionalism, and client service.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.

• Relevant professional licensure, registration, or discipline-specific certifications.

• A minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in consulting, engineering, scientific, architectural, forensic, construction, or related technical fields.

• Leadership experience in complex technical organizations, practices, programs, or service areas.

• Acknowledged technical expertise and industry credibility.

• Extensive experience in establishing and governing technical standards, methodologies, quality programs, and professional practice requirements.

• Proven track record of developing technical capabilities, leading innovation efforts, enhancing organizational performance, and driving strategic growth in a professional services context.

• Capability to lead technical leaders, create high-performing teams, influence executive stakeholders, and function within a matrixed organization.

• Strong grasp of business operations, financial performance, resource planning, and client engagement.

• Experience in supporting strategic pursuits, maintaining executive-level client relationships, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
