Technical Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Conduct independent technical evaluations of proposed components against claimed commercial equivalents.

• Create detailed side-by-side comparisons of key characteristics based on drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

• Analyze and document the equivalence of form, fit, and function, including the context of application and installation.

• Quantify and identify technical differences that affect price variations, contributing to the analyst's pricing strategy.

• Compose technical narratives that support or challenge supplier assertions.

• Identify comparable components and alternative commercial sources while conducting market research.

• Challenge unsupported claims with defensible technical arguments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Minimum of 3 years experience in component engineering, alternative sourcing, EPA/TDR development, should-cost analysis, or value engineering within an aerospace hardware context.

• Proficient in understanding engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data packages.

• Experience in evaluating part equivalence for source substitution or qualification purposes.

• Familiarity with aerospace product lines across both commercial and defense sectors.

• Ability to produce clear technical documentation tailored for a compliance audience rather than an engineering audience.

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

• Must be located in Phoenix, AZ.
