Human Centered Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement secure, cutting-edge solutions that support essential missions for the U.S. Navy.

• Collaborate with technical leaders, business stakeholders, developers, analysts, and users in cross-functional teams.

• Generate mid-to-high fidelity wireframes and prototypes that represent interaction design and user flow.

• Quickly prototype application solutions, focusing on design, aesthetics, and user experience.

• Utilize branding, layout, and aesthetic principles to create polished and professional user interfaces.

• Carry out visual design phases from the initial concept to the pre-production handoff to developers.

• Perform user interviews and conduct usability testing.

• Integrate user research and feedback into actionable design insights.

• Document all developed user interfaces thoroughly.

• Evaluate user feedback against design requirements and incorporate findings into subsequent designs.

• Present and clarify design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Define and implement innovative approaches for product direction, visuals, user experience, and team performance.

• Create efficient and user-friendly interfaces that align with client requirements.

• Iterate designs rapidly based on feedback from the team, users, and stakeholders.

• Maintain up-to-date design specifications and communicate usage intent to developers.

• Manage multiple design tasks, monitor dependencies, and meet sprint deadlines.

• Suggest and lead enhancements to design processes, tools, or standards.

• Collaborate with software development teams on mobile applications for iOS and Android.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Graphic/Web Design, Human Factors, Human-Centered Design, User Experience, web design/development, or a related IT discipline.

• More than 4 years of professional experience in human-centered design.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

• U.S. Citizenship is required to qualify for this type of security clearance.

• Must reside within the continental United States.

• Employment authorization to work in the United States is necessary.

• Proven experience in leading and applying human-centered design principles and best practices to application designs.

• Familiarity with UI/UX design and development.

• Proficient in design, wireframing, and prototyping tools, particularly Figma.

• Strong graphic design skills.

• Knowledgeable about user needs, journey mapping, usability, accessibility, and iterative design methodologies.

• Experienced in UI/UX design, Human Factors, and Human-Centered Design best practices.

• High proficiency in Figma for wireframing, prototyping, collaboration, and developer handoff.

• Understanding of visual hierarchy, WCAG accessibility standards, responsive/mobile-first design principles, and user-centered design methodologies.

• Skilled in design documentation, design annotation, maintaining revision history, and organizing reusable assets.

• Foundational knowledge of HTML/CSS and the translation of designs into code.

• Understanding of Human-Centered Design within Agile ceremonies, sprints, backlog grooming, and working sessions.

• Familiar with iOS and Android design guidelines.

• Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.

• Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.

• Adaptable to a dynamic environment while managing the expectations of customers and various teams.

• Active Secret security clearance is preferred.
