This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.
• Take ownership of core product surfaces from start to finish, encompassing booking flows, scheduling features, and both team and enterprise interfaces.
• Develop and experiment with functional prototypes using coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and v0.
• Deliver production-ready components that product engineers can utilize directly across Cal.com's product interfaces.
• Design, create, and manage custom components.
• Enhance the user interface by reviewing existing components, addressing gaps, refining primitives, and introducing new components.
• Ensure consistency in the design system across tokens, spacing, states, dark mode, and motion.
• Implement motion thoughtfully and with moderation.
• Oversee outcomes from hypothesis formulation and success definition through to implementation and analysis of results.
• Guarantee accessibility by managing keyboard navigation, focus, semantics, contrast, and motion preferences.
• Improve empty states, error messages, loading behaviors, and motion details.
• Collaborate transparently with the Head of Product and Design Engineer, sharing preliminary work and integrating feedback.
• Document your thought process through written materials, Looms, and prototypes.
• Product designer with considerable progression into design engineering.
• Proven experience managing complex and ambiguous product areas from problem identification to launch and iteration.
• Proficient in HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React.
• Capability to create and manage custom design-engineered components independently of third-party libraries.
• Extensive knowledge of headless primitive composition, such as Base UI, Radix, or comparable frameworks.
• Strong understanding of UI motion design principles, including easing, timing, and choreography.
• Regular use of AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and v0.
• Deep familiarity with web standards and browser platform primitives.
• Experience in developing and maintaining design systems.
• Knowledge of WCAG, ARIA, assistive technologies, and accessibility assessments.
• Understanding of APIs, data models, states, and architectural limitations.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Collaborative, self-sufficient, and asynchronous working style.
• Contributions to open-source projects and publicly accessible side projects are advantageous.
• Familiarity with Cal.com, scheduling, calendaring, time zones, and recurrence rules is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of locale- and time-aware APIs such as Intl.DateTimeFormat is a bonus.
