This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Oversee and direct STRIDES Ebola outbreak preparedness, response, recovery, and transition initiatives.
• Manage and coordinate Incident Management System structures and emergency operations activities.
• Act as the main technical and operational point of contact for the implementation of Ebola response efforts.
• Provide strategic leadership and direction to response teams, government partners, and implementing organizations.
• Facilitate daily incident management meetings, situation assessments, and operational planning sessions.
• Ensure alignment of response activities with national and international Ebola protocols and guidelines.
• Coordinate surge staffing, deployment planning, and integrative response actions.
• Monitor epidemiological trends and evaluate surveillance reports to inform operational decisions.
• Offer technical direction, mentorship, and capacity building to project staff and partners.
• Maintain project protocols, tools, datasets, manuals, training materials, and reports.
• Create technical briefs, reports, proposals, budgets, work plans, presentations, and other documentation.
• Analyze project implementation and recommend technical strategies and enhancement guidelines.
• Assist in the transition from emergency response to recovery and resilience-building efforts.
• Develop and track technical work plans, budgets, objectives, and performance indicators.
• Produce situation reports, technical updates, donor reports, executive summaries, and lessons-learned documentation.
• Keep records and documentation of incidents.
• Monitor deliverables, timelines, expenditures, budgets, and resource use.
• Facilitate the procurement and distribution of PPE, laboratory supplies, commodities, equipment, and emergency materials.
• Represent FHI 360 in national and sub-national Ebola coordination platforms.
• Collaborate with Ministries of Health, UN agencies, NGOs, donor representatives, partners, and clients.
• Participate in technical working groups, emergency coordination meetings, client/funder meetings, and business development activities.
• Support proposal and project design, budgeting, recruitment, partner/sub-award management, and client-related technical issues.
• Ensure technical quality, compliance with regulations, and alignment with organizational strategy and standard operating procedures.
• May supervise junior staff and manage centralized functional operations.
• Travel and potentially deploy to areas affected by outbreaks.
• Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Global Health, Infectious Diseases, Emergency Management, Medicine, Nursing, Health Sciences, or a related field.
• At least 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in public health emergency management, infectious disease outbreak response, or humanitarian health programs.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of leadership experience managing large-scale outbreak responses.
• Proven experience in supporting Ebola, viral hemorrhagic fevers (VHFs), or other infectious disease emergency responses.
• Experience collaborating with Ministries of Health, WHO, CDC, NGOs, and donor-funded programs.
• Documented experience in providing technical assistance, capacity building, and business development in the relevant technical domain.
• Previous work experience in an NGO, government agency, or private sector organization.
• In-depth knowledge of viral hemorrhagic fever epidemiology, particularly Ebola, and VHF prevention and control strategies.
• Strong understanding of Incident Management Systems, Emergency Operations Centers, and principles of public health emergency management.
• Experience in outbreak investigation, surveillance, contact tracing, and emergency coordination.
• Familiarity with WHO, CDC, and Ministry of Health Ebola response frameworks and standards.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in complex emergency situations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Experience with humanitarian coordination mechanisms and stakeholder engagement.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to work effectively under pressure during rapidly changing emergencies.
• Proficiency in managing projects, prioritizing tasks, and successfully planning implementation.
• Must possess fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to travel, including deployment to outbreak-affected regions.
• Project Management Certification is preferred.
• Specialized training in Ebola preparedness and response is highly desirable.
• International or field-based emergency response experience is preferred.
• Experience in international or domestic US program development or program management is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and data management platforms.
• Successful completion of relevant screening checks and consent to recruitment processes.
