This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Collaborate closely with clients to ensure satisfaction and maximize the return on investment of VMware solutions.
• Act as the primary point of contact for customers within VMware, addressing both business and technical challenges to facilitate customer success.
• Engage with sales, product management, education, R&D, and support teams across VMware.
• Promote the adoption of VMware solutions within designated accounts by fostering both internal and external relationships.
• Provide key account metrics and customer insights to VMware's internal teams.
• Participate in the development activities of the TAM program.
• Build long-term relationships with assigned accounts, gaining insight into clients' strategic objectives.
• Lead project coordination and provide architectural guidance for network virtualization and significant VMware initiatives.
• Work alongside multifunctional VMware project teams, including consultants, engineers, product management, and support staff.
• Align VMware solutions with customers' business and technical needs.
• Stay informed about VMware load balancing and security solutions, as well as maintain a high-level understanding of VMware’s product line and future direction.
• Manage complex requests across multiple client engagements.
• Provide product feedback to VMware Product Management based on customer use cases and requirements.
• Advise customers on best practices and promote the adoption of VMware solutions.
• Oversee customer engagement milestones.
• Serve as an exceptional customer advocate and liaison.
• Respond to customer needs with confidence and effectiveness.
• Over 5 years of demonstrated experience in networking and a solid understanding of VMware networking products.
• At least 2 years of proven experience in customer-facing roles, such as TAM or technology consultant.
• A BS degree is preferred; however, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Strong knowledge of VMware products, including the core product suite, virtualization, networking, security products, solutions, and services.
• A solid technical foundation in advanced networking and security, preferably backed by technical certifications.
• Experience in data center infrastructure, operating systems, desktop deployments, system administration, and/or technical architecture is preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% locally/regionally.
• Domain-level understanding of Cloud Infrastructure & Networking.
• Familiarity with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and Security/Trust Zones.
• Knowledge of routers, switches, load balancers, and networking and security components from various vendors.
• Understanding of virtual networking components such as VSG, Nexus 1000V, and vDS.
• Knowledge of networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPN, unicast vs multicast, management networks, IP subnetting, and network design.
• Proven experience and deep knowledge of networking and load balancer technologies and vendors such as Cisco, F5, Riverbed, Force10, Vyatta/Brocade, A10 Networks, Arista, Infoblox, and Palo Alto Networks.
• Experience in integrating diverse networking and security environments.
• Understanding of contemporary IT and DevOps production data center and cloud operations.
• Familiarity with systems management concepts, processes, and standards such as SNMP; capacity/performance management and tuning.
• Quick learner capable of conveying complex technical concepts to various audiences.
• Strong business acumen and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to influence both internal and external partners at all levels.
• Capability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client demands.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with CxO-level personnel.
• Must currently reside in Tokyo, Japan; relocation assistance is not available.
• Professional working proficiency in Japanese.
• Home-office based position.
• Travel up to 20% locally/regionally.
