Tax Preparer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Prepare individual federal and state income tax returns.

• Gather, review, and organize tax documents provided by clients.

• Accurately input tax information into professional tax preparation software.

• Examine completed returns for accuracy and thoroughness prior to filing.

• Professionally communicate with clients regarding any missing or additional documentation.

• Clarify the tax preparation process to clients.

• Maintain organized and precise client records.

• Safeguard confidential taxpayer and financial information.

• Adhere to IRS requirements, regulations, company policies, and due diligence standards.

• Complete necessary tax preparation, compliance, and continuing education training.

• Provide outstanding customer service and foster enduring client relationships.

• Meet established deadlines during the tax season.

• Promote tax preparation services and expand the client base through networking, referrals, and community outreach.

• Develop a book of business through long-term relationships with repeat clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent.

• Strong attention to detail along with excellent organizational skills.

• Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting.

• Basic computer skills.

• Ability to manage confidential financial information responsibly.

• Previous experience in tax preparation or financial services is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Must possess an active IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) or be willing to obtain one prior to preparing tax returns.

• Must successfully finish required tax preparation training before working on client returns.
