This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the company's worldwide tax function, which encompasses tax strategy, governance, risk management, compliance, reporting, and planning.
• Supervise U.S. federal, state, and international income tax compliance, including foreign reporting requirements and the coordination of local country filings.
• Manage indirect tax and withholding responsibilities, including sales and use tax, VAT/GST, and cross-border withholding taxes.
• Lead the annual and interim tax provision under U.S. GAAP and ASC 740, covering deferred taxes, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, and related financial statement disclosures.
• Create and uphold a global tax compliance calendar, along with internal controls, policies, and supporting documentation.
• Drive tax planning concerning legal entity structuring, capitalization, intercompany arrangements, repatriation, and market expansion.
• Formulate and maintain transfer pricing policies, intercompany agreements, documentation, and implementation across international entities.
• Evaluate permanent establishment, nexus, tax residency, and other risks arising from global operations and workforce.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Product, and business operations teams on contracts, new products, regulated financial services activities, and operational decisions.
• Assist in M&A tax due diligence, transaction structuring, purchase accounting, and post-acquisition integration.
• Handle inquiries, examinations, notices, and disputes from tax authorities.
• Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory tax developments and communicate their implications to leadership.
• Lead tax forecasting and cash tax planning in partnership with FP&A and Treasury.
• Oversee tax residency certificates, treaty-relief documentation, and related filings, including Forms 8802 and 6166.
• Manage external tax advisors, ensuring clarity on scope, budget, deliverables, and service quality.
• Enhance tax efficiency, controls, data quality, processes, and automation.
• Develop and grow the internal tax function as the company scales.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA and/or Master's in Taxation is highly preferred.
• 8-10+ years of pertinent tax experience, ideally blending public accounting and in-house corporate tax experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. federal and state taxation, with significant experience overseeing international tax issues and foreign entity compliance.
• In-depth understanding of ASC 740 and proven experience managing the tax provision process, including deferred taxes, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, and financial statement disclosures.
• Experience supervising tax issues across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements, indirect taxes, withholding taxes, and international expansion.
• Proven ability to develop and execute scalable tax policies, processes, and internal controls.
• Experience in managing external tax advisors, audits, tax authority matters, and competing filing deadlines.
• Strong analytical and project management abilities, with remarkable attention to detail and the capacity to prioritize multiple complex workstreams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the capability to clearly articulate complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders and senior leadership.
• A proactive, collaborative mindset and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Experience in a multinational fintech, financial services, brokerage, or digital assets business is highly preferred.
• Experience in supporting M&A transactions and post-acquisition integration is a plus.
• Experience with public companies, pre-IPO, or SOX-readiness is advantageous.
