This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Analyze, prepare, and submit assigned Sales & Use Tax returns along with other reporting obligations.
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end closing tasks, which include journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
• Manage the resolution of tax notices, ensuring prompt follow-up and escalation of issues.
• Aid in indirect tax initiatives involving Voluntary Disclosure Agreements, sales and use tax audits, nexus evaluations, account registrations and terminations, taxability research, notice resolution, and compliance or remediation projects.
• Provide support for property tax reporting by preparing necessary schedules.
• Compile and uphold documentation for property tax submissions, including details on inventory and tangible personal property by state.
• Assist in annual tax accruals and conduct account reconciliations.
• Support tax audits by collecting documentation, drafting responses, and aiding the audit lead.
• Cultivate working relationships with various functional areas.
• Prepare business license applications and liaise with statutory agents.
• Assist in calculations for various tax filings, including gross receipts and commercial activity taxes.
• Maintain the tax calendar and departmental tracking documentation.
• Enhance Standard Operating Procedures and spearhead automation and reporting projects using Vertex, Alteryx, and OneStream.
• Guide and train junior team members to bolster tax operational efficiency.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
• At least 3+ years of experience in indirect tax and/or equivalent public accounting experience is necessary.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential.
• Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
• Familiarity with JDE (JD Edwards), NetSuite, or another major ERP system is advantageous.
• Experience with Vertex (O-Series or Vertex Cloud), including managing tax rates, exemption certificates, jurisdictional settings, return preparation, system testing, reporting validation, and resolving tax engine issues.
• A demonstrated history of success in a fast-paced environment.
