This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Design, implement, administer, and support IBM z/OS mainframe networking infrastructure for banking applications, payment systems, customer account processing, regulatory reporting, and financial services.
• Install, customize, maintain, and apply software updates to z/OS Communication Server, Connect:Direct, and related products.
• Diagnose and resolve complex mainframe networking and middleware issues utilizing diagnostic tools like IPCS and packet traces.
• Address incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and coordinate solutions with vendors and partner teams.
• Monitor system performance, perform capacity planning, and implement tuning measures to comply with SLAs.
• Establish and maintain CA-ACF2 security protocols, AT-TLS configurations, and certificate management.
• Lead and engage in software upgrades, hardware refreshes, disaster recovery planning, and exercises.
• Collaborate with developers, operations personnel, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, and other systems programmers.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior team members.
• Maintain documentation for system configuration, procedures, and troubleshooting.
• Attend vendor conferences, share insights, and recommend training opportunities.
• Participate in a 24/7 emergency on-call rotation.
• Comply with risk, regulatory, audit, internal-control, and company policy requirements.
• Identify risks for escalation, foster a sense of belonging, and complete other related tasks.
• A combined minimum of 6 years of higher education and/or relevant work experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of z/OS Communication Server, including VTAM, TCP/IP, FTP, SFTP, TLS/AT-TLS, OSA-Express, TN3270 Services, DNS, Enterprise Extender, and Connect:Direct (NDM).
• In-depth knowledge of SMP/E and z/OSMF for software installation and maintenance.
• Proficiency in JCL, REXX, and CLIST.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities for diagnosing and resolving intricate technical challenges.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Preferred: Strong proficiency with IBM MQ Series on Z, CICS, and DB2 on Z.
• Preferred: 5–7 years of experience in mainframe systems programming with a focus on networking and middleware.
• Relevant certifications are advantageous.
• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
