Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, development, design, modification, writing, implementation, and testing of software for population simulation.

• Collaborate with customers and end users to establish project requirements and devise realistic timelines.

• Work together with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and maintain back-end technical solutions.

• Produce high-quality, testable, and efficient code, primarily using Java.

• Suggest enhancements to existing application processes.

• Prepare and release software component updates.

• Offer technical support and guidance for application and infrastructure inquiries.

• Engage with management and customers about product feasibility, plans, and design considerations.

• Integrate emerging technologies and product supportability into design and execution.

• Provide product demonstrations and take part in trade shows, seminars, industry panels, and user group meetings.

• Communicate with customers regarding strategies, requirements, troubleshooting, and support.

• Assist in a research and development project under the Air Force Research Laboratory.

• Tailor the Worldline platform for a specific project involving synthetic, large-scale, geo-tagged data.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance or be eligible for clearance.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Must reside within the contiguous United States.

• At least 5 years of experience in a software engineering position is required.

• Proven experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software.

• Experience in defining architecture requirements and setting design and development standards.

• Strong programming skills with an emphasis on quality and testability.

• Proficient in Java and Python programming languages.

• Solid understanding of DevOps and software/application development methodologies.

• Familiarity with continuous integration and software configuration management tools/processes, including GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, and Nexus.

• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimization techniques.

• Experience in gathering client requirements and addressing workflow issues through automation enhancements.

• A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, though relevant experience may substitute for a degree.

• Background in population simulation or similar data simulation fields.

• Experience in leading software development projects within government Modeling and Simulation environments.

• Familiarity with geospatial engineering.

• Experience with Big Data processing tools such as Spark/Hadoop, Google BigQuery, AWS Athena, and EMR.

• Familiarity with public cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.

• Strong skills in data visualization.
