Synthetic / Process Chemist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop complex single-turn prompts related to chemistry and chemical safety, categorized as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.

• Assess model outputs based on a specified policy standard.

• Evaluate whether model outputs appropriately addressed technical inquiries.

• Create reference answers that outline correct responses along with the technical reasoning that supports them.

• Test advanced AI models' capacity to evaluate the potential for misuse of technical inquiries.

• Utilize practitioner expertise to differentiate between standard process chemistry and potentially hazardous requests.

• Offer written justifications for evaluations that can be easily understood by non-specialists.

• Engage in reading and writing about misuse scenarios in chemistry for extended periods.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in synthetic route design and development within pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or fine chemicals sectors.

• Background in process chemistry and reaction engineering, including optimization, kinetics, and impurity management.

• Proven experience in scaling from bench to pilot to plant, along with the necessary safety reviews.

• Familiarity with precursor sourcing, controlled-substance registration, or regulatory chemistry.

• Experience in method development and troubleshooting within a GMP or similar quality framework.

• Capability to distinguish between routine professional chemistry inquiries and those that may involve misuse.

• Excellent writing skills with the ability to provide rationales that are accessible to non-specialists.

• Previous technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is highly regarded; please include a sample or link.

• Must refrain from using classified, export-controlled, NDA-protected information, or information subject to prepublication review obligations.
