Synthetic, Process Chemist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create challenging single-turn prompts focused on chemistry and chemical safety, categorized as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.

• Assess model responses based on a specific policy standard.

• Evaluate whether each response was appropriately handled.

• Develop reference answers that describe the characteristics of a correct response and the underlying technical reasoning.

• Conduct red-team evaluations of cutting-edge AI models to determine their capability in assessing the potential for misuse of technical requests.

• Make clear distinctions between legitimate process-chemistry inquiries and genuinely hazardous requests.

⛳️ Requirements

• A solid background in designing and developing synthetic routes within the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or fine chemicals sectors.

• Proficient in process chemistry and reaction engineering, with expertise in optimization, kinetics, and impurity control.

• Experience in scaling processes from bench to pilot to plant, including conducting required safety reviews.

• Familiarity with precursor sourcing, controlled-substance registration, or regulatory aspects of chemistry.

• Skilled in method development and troubleshooting within a GMP or equivalent quality framework.

• Ability to differentiate between standard professional chemistry inquiries and those with potential for misuse.

• Strong technical writing capabilities; every assessment must provide a rationale that is comprehensible to a non-specialist audience.

• Previous experience in technical writing, published research, or as an expert witness is highly regarded; applicants should provide a sample or link.

• Capacity to read and write extensively about misuse scenarios in the field.

• Must refrain from using classified, export-controlled information, NDA-covered content, or any information subject to prepublication review requirements.
