Synthetic, Process Chemist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop challenging single-turn prompts related to chemistry and chemical safety, categorized as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.

• Assess model outputs against established policy standards.

• Evaluate whether responses were managed appropriately.

• Create reference answers that detail correct responses along with the technical rationale behind them.

• Conduct red-team assessments of frontier AI models to determine their ability to identify potential misuse in technical inquiries.

• Differentiate between legitimate process chemistry inquiries and those seeking hazardous information.

• Continually engage in reading and writing about misuse scenarios within the chemistry field.

⛳️ Requirements

• Hands-on experience executing chemical processes and scaling them from bench-top to pilot and production levels.

• Knowledge in synthetic route design and development within pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or fine chemical sectors.

• Proficiency in process chemistry and reaction engineering, encompassing optimization, kinetics, and impurity management.

• Experience in scaling processes from bench to pilot to plant, including relevant safety evaluations.

• Familiarity with precursor sourcing, controlled-substance registration, or regulatory chemistry.

• Method development and troubleshooting experience in a GMP or equivalent quality environment.

• Capability to discern routine professional chemistry questions from potentially hazardous requests.

• Excellent writing abilities with a talent for articulating rationales that are clear to non-specialists.

• Previous technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is highly valued.

• Must refrain from using classified, export-controlled, NDA-covered, or prepublication-review materials in the work.

• Candidates with such obligations must disclose them so that the scope of work can be adjusted accordingly.

• A sample or link showcasing technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is required.
