Synthetic – Process Chemist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop challenging single-turn prompts related to chemistry and chemical safety, categorized as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.

• Assess model outputs against established policy standards.

• Evaluate whether the responses effectively addressed technical inquiries.

• Create reference answers that clarify correct responses and the underlying technical rationale.

• Conduct red-team evaluations of cutting-edge AI models to assess potential for misuse.

• Continuously engage in reading and writing about misuse scenarios in the field of chemistry.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in executing chemical processes and scaling them from bench to pilot to full-scale plant operations.

• Background in synthetic route design and development within the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or fine chemical sectors.

• Expertise in process chemistry and reaction engineering, encompassing optimization, kinetics, and impurity management.

• Familiarity with scale-up processes from bench to pilot to plant, including necessary safety evaluations.

• Knowledge of precursor sourcing, controlled-substance registration, or regulatory aspects of chemistry.

• Experience in method development and troubleshooting within a GMP or similar quality assurance environment.

• Capacity to differentiate between standard professional chemistry inquiries and potentially hazardous requests.

• Excellent writing abilities and the skill to articulate rationales that are accessible to non-specialists.

• Previous experience in technical writing, published research, or expert witness roles is highly desirable.

• Prohibited from utilizing classified, export-controlled, NDA-protected, or prepublication-review information in this role.
