Synthetic – Process Chemist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop intricate single-turn prompts related to chemistry and chemical safety, classified as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.

• Assess model responses based on a specified policy standard.

• Evaluate whether the responses accurately addressed technical inquiries.

• Craft reference answers that clarify what constitutes a correct response and the technical rationale behind it.

• Generate prompts that differentiate between standard process-chemistry inquiries and those that may indicate potential misuse.

• Provide written explanations that are accessible to individuals without specialized knowledge.

• Engage in reading and writing about misuse scenarios in chemistry for extended periods.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in executing chemical routes and scaling them from bench to pilot to production plant.

• Capability to differentiate between routine professional chemistry inquiries and potentially hazardous requests.

• Background in synthetic route design and development within pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or fine chemicals sectors.

• Knowledge in process chemistry and reaction engineering, encompassing optimization, kinetics, and impurity management.

• Experience in scaling processes from bench to pilot to production, including necessary safety evaluations.

• Familiarity with precursor sourcing, controlled-substance registration, or regulatory chemistry.

• Proficiency in method development and troubleshooting within a GMP or similar quality environment.

• Exceptional writing skills; each evaluation must include a rationale that is clear to non-specialists.

• Previous experience in technical writing, published research, or serving as an expert witness is highly regarded.

• Must refrain from using classified, export-controlled, NDA-protected, or prepublication-review information in any work.

• Must reveal any such obligations to ensure the work can be appropriately scoped.
