Supplier FSQA Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Oversee the approval, qualification, and requalification processes for suppliers of spices, seasonings, herbs, dehydrated ingredients, and flavor systems.

• Assess supplier food safety protocols, quality management practices, regulatory adherence, and operational capabilities.

• Conduct risk-based evaluations of suppliers and assign risk ratings.

• Review supplier documentation and assist in the onboarding process for new suppliers and ingredients in TraceGains.

• Carry out audits and assessments of suppliers at both domestic and international manufacturing sites.

• Prepare audit reports and facilitate corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).

• Track the effectiveness and completion of supplier corrective actions.

• Collaborate with Procurement on supplier performance issues and strategies for risk mitigation.

• Work alongside suppliers to develop strategies for reducing risks in the supply chains of spice and seasoning ingredients.

• Create and maintain supplier scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Analyze trends in supplier performance, including audit outcomes, complaints, non-conformances, and CAPA effectiveness.

• Promote continuous improvement initiatives with key suppliers.

• Lead supplier business reviews involving cross-functional teams.

• Collaborate with Procurement, Operations, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial teams to ensure supplier compliance and business continuity.

• Assist in project and product commercialization efforts within the Spice/Seasonings Business Unit.

• Provide expertise in supplier quality for investigations, recalls, withdrawals, and incidents involving suppliers.

• Engage in crisis management and strategies for supply chain risk reduction.

• Assist with both internal and external audits.

• Maintain procedures, policies, and standards related to supplier quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, or a related scientific/technical field.

• At least 7 years of experience in food manufacturing, with a minimum of 5 years focused on supplier quality, food safety, and/or supply chain management.

• Proven experience in auditing food manufacturing facilities.

• Experience in managing supplier corrective actions and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.

• Preferred: Background in the spice, seasoning, herb, flavor, botanical, or agricultural ingredient sectors.

• Preferred: Certification as a Lead Auditor.

• Preferred: PCQI certification.

• Preferred: Experience with global sourcing and international supplier networks.

• Preferred: Understanding of food fraud, food defense, and ingredient authenticity programs.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers and co-manufacturers.
