Substation Engineer – Physical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Execute specific and limited aspects of broader tasks under the guidance of experienced engineers.

• Collect and organize fundamental engineering data utilizing established procedures.

• Complete detailed or routine engineering tasks that involve calculations and relatively straightforward tests.

• Suggest methods to address new challenges.

• Detect inconsistencies in results.

• Conduct work in alignment with agreed-upon budgets and schedules with moderate oversight.

• Design utility-scale physical substations within the power delivery sector.

• Participate in an in-person Day 1 onboarding session at an AECOM office location.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering along with 4 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

• At least 4 years of experience in high voltage substation design.

• EIT Certification.

• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Bentley Microstation.

• Professional engineering license or the ability to obtain one within 2 years of employment (preferred).

• Understanding of construction practices and constructability.

• Experience in proposal writing and project estimation.

• Familiarity with scheduling and project control processes.

• Knowledge of industry and technological trends related to substations.

• Acquaintance with IEEE, ANSI, NESC, and NEC codes and standards.

• Proficient in MS Office, including Word and Excel.

• Capability to apply sound engineering judgment.

• Ability to effectively manage time and workload.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available.
