This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create engineering design drawings and calculation packages from the conceptual stage to detailed design.

• Conduct civil and structural design evaluations for substation projects.

• Assist in the preparation of bid and construction packages.

• Ensure that substation facilities comply with all relevant safety and environmental regulations, including stormwater and SPCC requirements.

• Execute site design tasks, encompassing cut/fill determinations, grading plans, impervious additions, and erosion and stormwater control calculations.

• Carry out regular design evaluations.

• Mentor and develop junior staff members.

• Contribute to the development of bids and proposals.

• Participate in occasional site visits to client substation facilities.

• Travel as needed for client meetings and industry-related events.

• Provide design assistance to field personnel during construction projects.

• Collaborate with engineers, designers, drafting technicians, and physical electrical engineering teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

• Over 5 years of experience in electric utility substation design engineering and reviews.

• PE License in the State of California.

• Strong expertise in designing steel structures, concrete structures, site grading, geotechnical engineering, foundations, and substation access roads.

• Familiarity with relevant codes and standards.

• Experience in designing and reviewing substation civil and structural designs in seismic zones for both new and existing structures.

• Knowledge of surveying, geotechnical, and construction specifications.

• Commitment to quality control and safe work practices.

• Proficiency with STAAD.Pro, RISA 3D, FAD Tools, SAFE, SAG10, and LPile.

• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation, with experience in working with georeferenced drawings.

• Excellent analytical and technical writing abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Strong communication skills with clients and team members.

• Experience with client-facing operations such as lunch and learns and kick-off meetings.
