This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Conduct structural design and analysis for various hyperscale and colocation data center buildings.
• Create design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing systems, and both deep and shallow foundations.
• Collaborate with architectural, civil, MEP, and construction teams to coordinate design deliverables.
• Prepare construction documents, specifications, and calculations.
• Ensure quality, compliance with codes, and technical excellence throughout the project.
• Offer mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Interact with clients, contractors, and review authorities regarding technical inquiries and design clarifications.
• Assist in business development, proposal writing, and conceptual structural design for new initiatives.
• Occasionally travel for client meetings, site visits, project milestones, and other project-related activities.
• Work in collaboration with global AECOM teams on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Licensed U.S. Professional Engineer (PE or SE).
• At least 5 years of professional experience in building structures design and analysis.
• Experience in data center, mission-critical, or large-scale logistics/industrial facilities.
• Proficient in BIM ACC (Revit), ETABS, RISA, RAM, SAP2000, and SAFE.
• Familiarity with precast concrete systems, steel design, seismic design, and foundation systems.
• Knowledge of low embodied carbon materials and sustainable structural design approaches.
• Preferred: Over 3 years of experience with data center facilities and an understanding of data center-specific design standards and structural resiliency requirements.
• LEED, Envision, or active involvement in SE 2050 implementation is preferred.
• Ability to interpret and apply national and local building codes.
• Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
• Capability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
