This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Conduct structural design and analysis for various hyperscale and colocation data center buildings.
• Create design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing systems, and both deep and shallow foundations.
• Collaborate on design deliverables with architectural, civil, MEP, and construction teams.
• Generate construction documents, specifications, and calculations.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, code compliance, and technical excellence.
• Offer mentorship and technical direction to junior engineers and designers.
• Interact with clients, contractors, and review authorities to address technical inquiries and provide design clarifications.
• Assist in business development, proposal writing, and conceptual structural design for new projects.
• Travel as necessary for client meetings, site visits, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, and other critical business activities.
• Collaborate with global AECOM teams on high-profile, fast-paced data center initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with at least 6 years of relevant experience, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Licensed U.S. Professional Engineer (PE or SE).
• 5+ years of professional experience in the design and analysis of building structures.
• Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale logistics/industrial projects.
• Proficiency in BIM ACC (Revit), ETABS, RISA, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, and similar software tools.
• Familiarity with precast concrete systems, steel design, seismic design, and foundation systems.
• Proven experience with low embodied carbon materials and sustainable structural design practices.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience in data center facilities and knowledge of data center-specific design standards and structural resiliency requirements.
• Preferred qualifications include LEED, Envision, or active involvement in SE 2050 implementation.
• Expertise in low embodied carbon materials, sustainable structural systems, and emerging best practices in the industry.
• Exceptional communication, coordination, and leadership abilities.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
• Competence in interpreting and applying national and local building codes.
• U.S. Professional Engineer licensure is mandatory.
• Must be able to participate in-person for Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.
