This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Design, analyze, and enhance system and equipment layouts for solar energy and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installations.
• Collaborate with KE design and project teams, clients, vendors, subcontractors, and external engineering partners.
• Act as the subject matter expert for foundations, load-bearing members, materials, fasteners, and coatings.
• Design the mechanical and structural components of photovoltaic systems, battery storage, and substations.
• Conduct load analysis, foundation sizing, and corrosion assessments utilizing engineering software.
• Establish or validate construction, manufacturing, and installation standards and specifications.
• Coordinate design documentation and installation to ensure adherence to requirements.
• Develop test plans, compile data, and create engineering reports.
• Prepare or review specifications for the purchase of structural/mechanical equipment and materials.
• Oversee project challenges, timelines, budgets, and quality assurance.
• Perform onsite visits as necessary to gather information and support solutions.
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies, subcontractors, and manufacturers/distributors.
• Maintain project files, drawings, documents, and records in the company database.
• Expertise in materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in structural loading analysis.
• At least 3 years of experience in engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineering license is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the team as well as independently.
• Valid driver's license with a record of safe and responsible driving.
• Capability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
• Ability to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, and walk for prolonged periods.
• Capacity to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
