
Strategic Product Director β ICP/OES

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
β’ Define and take ownership of the 3β5 year product roadmap for the designated product segment, encompassing instruments, consumables, and software.
β’ Create new product introduction (NPI) business cases that include market sizing, competitive positioning, financial modeling, and quantifying customer value.
β’ Manage the progression of gates for NPIs from concept to commercial launch approval.
β’ Convert Market Requirements Documents into detailed product requirements and R&D briefs.
β’ Lead the long-term technology roadmap in collaboration with R&D leadership.
β’ Establish and maintain a structured voice-of-customer program, conducting a minimum of 20 comprehensive customer conversations each year.
β’ Keep track of competitive intelligence and use it to inform positioning and roadmap adjustments.
β’ Oversee the global base pricing strategy with approval from the VP of Product Line.
β’ Manage the P&L contribution of the product segment, focusing on revenue, gross margin, and portfolio profitability.
β’ Assist in Annual Operating Plan (AOP) planning with revenue projections, volume forecasts, and investment needs.
β’ Lead and mentor NPI Product Managers and the Operations Product Manager.
β’ Guide NPI Product Managers on business cases, customer interviews, and commercial program discipline.
β’ Ensure seamless transitions between NPI and Operations Product Managers.
β’ Collaborate with the VP of Product Line on investment prioritization, AOP planning, and executive gate reviews.
β’ Work in conjunction with R&D, Strategic & Commercial Marketing, and Regional Product Managers on requirements, intelligence, roadmap, positioning, and launch planning.
β’ 10β15+ years of experience in product management, product strategy, or commercial leadership within the analytical instrumentation or scientific equipment sectors.
β’ Proven experience in owning a product roadmap and successfully leading NPI programs through to full commercialization.
β’ Direct technical expertise in the relevant product segment, such as atomic spectroscopy, chromatography, or materials characterization, along with knowledge of its key application markets.
β’ Strong financial skills, including product line P&L management, NPI business cases, and pricing strategies.
β’ A successful history of leading and developing small product management teams.
β’ Willingness to travel 25β30% for customer visits, conferences, and internal reviews.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
β’ Experience in a structured stage-gate NPI environment.
β’ Experience working within a matrixed organization alongside segment marketing, technical, and regional commercial functions.
β’ An advanced degree (MSc, PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline is preferred.
β’ Strong executive presence and the ability to effectively communicate product investment decisions to senior leadership and major customers is preferred.
