Strategic Finance Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and enhance the company’s Long-Range Plan, encompassing base, stretch, and market-specific upside/downside scenarios.

• Create assumption packs and documentation that will be utilized by leadership and the board.

• Develop audit-ready models for market entry, unit economics, distribution cost structures, and funding scenarios.

• Collaborate closely with the Head of Strategic Finance on projects that are visible to executives.

• Identify and correct any discrepancies in balance sheet and cash flow tie-outs prior to executive review.

• Assist in the monthly and quarterly FP&A cycles, which include budget-versus-actual variance analysis, performance commentary, and reporting packs.

• Facilitate the migration of planning processes into Anaplan.

• Structure models and address incomplete business challenges before developing appropriate calculations.

• Analyze ECL inquiries along with other strategic finance initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in constructing complex three-statement models from the ground up under tight deadlines.

• Experience in investment banking, transaction services, or a similarly demanding modeling background is preferred.

• Strong understanding of how operational drivers translate into financial statements.

• Exceptional attention to detail.

• Ability to clearly communicate assumptions and articulate modeling logic.

• Familiarity with Anaplan or another planning platform is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Exposure to fintech, lending, or consumer credit is beneficial but not essential.

• Experience with multi-currency, multi-entity businesses in Africa is advantageous but not essential.
