Strategic Finance Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Assist in the creation and upkeep of yearly budgets and rolling forecasts.

• Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis alongside profitability assessments.

• Develop and sustain financial models, incorporating scenario and sensitivity analysis utilizing AI tools.

• Provide datasets and analyses for board and executive reporting materials.

• Execute gross margin analysis by product, segment, and customer cohort.

• Identify opportunities for margin enhancement.

• Aid in pricing strategy and annual price increase evaluations.

• Collaborate with Billing and RevOps to verify pricing and margin data.

• Assist in monthly and quarterly commission calculations for Sales, Partner, and Operations teams.

• Conduct quality control checks prior to commission distribution.

• Investigate and rectify commission discrepancies.

• Work alongside the Senior Financial & Systems Analyst on business intelligence, recurring reporting, and analysis systems.

• Automate regular deliverables such as commission calculations.

• Contribute to the enterprise-wide data warehouse infrastructure.

• Document the business logic underpinning recurring Finance calculations.

• Create or maintain dashboards and reporting views.

• Identify upstream data quality issues and collaborate with relevant teams to resolve them.

• Report to the VP of Finance and work in conjunction with Finance and RevOps teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.

• 1–3 years of demonstrated experience as a Financial Analyst or in a comparable FP&A, accounting, or business analysis position.

• Proficient in Excel, including advanced formulas and financial modeling.

• Basic understanding of SQL with a desire to expand knowledge.

• Strong analytical capabilities and comfort working with large, sometimes imperfect datasets.

• Ability to clearly present financial information through reports, charts, and summaries for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

• Practical experience with financial or ERP systems.

• High level of personal accountability for accuracy, especially in recurring deliverables impacting employee compensation.

• Prior experience in a SaaS or subscription-based business is preferred.

• Familiarity with NetSuite or a similar ERP platform is preferred.

• Experience with a cloud data warehouse platform (e.g., Snowflake) or BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) is preferred.

• Previous experience with sales commission calculations, gross margin analysis, or pricing analysis is preferred.
