
STEM Outreach and Events Coordinator – ONR Support

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Act as a representative for Naval STEM initiatives at career fairs, conferences, student competitions, family STEM events, naval air shows, and various outreach activities.
• Engage with students, families, educators, and community organizations to discuss STEM education and internship opportunities provided by the Department of the Navy.
• Convey information regarding SEAP, NREIP, SMART, NDSEG, and other Naval STEM programs.
• Organize and manage event logistics, which includes registration, scheduling, staffing, shipping, venue selection, booth setup, equipment, and outreach materials.
• Assist with event preparations, booth organization, attendee engagement, material distribution, event breakdown, and subsequent post-event tasks.
• Collaborate with ONR personnel, naval laboratories, warfare centers, educational institutions, event planners, vendors, and other relevant parties.
• Order, track, ship, receive, inventory, and allocate program materials and supplies.
• Maintain event timelines, action-item lists, contact databases, inventories, and program documentation.
• Gather and report data on event participation, outcomes, lessons learned, and follow-up actions.
• Draft and revise outreach materials, event communications, presentations, social media content, and messaging.
• Assist in social media and digital communications that promote Naval STEM programs and events.
• Utilize Microsoft 365 applications for planning, reporting, tracking, and team collaboration.
• Travel to around 10–20 events each year, which may include occasional multi-day, evening, or weekend engagements.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, event management, public relations, education, or a related field.
• Minimum of three years of relevant experience in outreach, community engagement, customer service, event coordination, or a similar field.
• Recent experience in planning or assisting with in-person events, including setup and on-site logistics.
• Willingness and capability to travel to approximately 10–20 events annually.
• Professional and confident interaction skills with students, families, educators, government officials, and community partners.
• Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple deadlines, shipments, stakeholders, and event needs.
• Capacity to work independently, make sound judgments, and resolve routine logistical or attendee concerns in dynamic, public-facing event settings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Excel.
• Current SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain the necessary clearance within the designated timeframe for the position.
