Staff User Researcher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish the research vision and methodologies for Coinbase Platform systems, tools, and infrastructure.

• Develop a research strategy, prioritize initiatives, and create engagement models that link customer insights to product and design decisions.

• Oversee and manage the Platform's ongoing internal Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) program, which includes survey design, scheduling, analysis, and reporting to leadership.

• Conduct and facilitate generative, evaluative, and mixed-methods research involving engineers, technical leads, product managers, and end users.

• Tackle complex research challenges across areas such as Identity, Payments, Developer Experience, internal tools, and compliance.

• Produce high-quality design deliverables, including refined prototypes, interaction flows, and compelling visual narratives.

• Collaborate with senior product, design, and engineering leaders to shape roadmaps and influence investment decisions.

• Enhance design consistency and integrity, contribute to design systems, and create scalable research repositories and frameworks.

• Provide coaching and mentorship to designers and product partners on research methodologies and design excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional experience in user research and product design.

• Proven experience in establishing research vision and leading research efforts for complex, technical, or platform-scale products and systems.

• Capability to operate strategically and influence senior cross-functional and executive stakeholders through insights derived from research and impactful design presentations.

• Mastery of design and prototyping tools, including Figma or a similar platform.

• Strong expertise in qualitative research methodologies.

• Sound judgment in selecting appropriate research methods for various inquiries.

• Ability to refine existing methods and implement new approaches for tackling ambiguous challenges.

• Demonstrated history of building research practices, operational models, or measurement programs, such as recurring CSAT or voice-of-customer initiatives.

• Experience in promoting design system adoption and contributions within a product area.

• Proficiency in responsibly utilizing generative AI with human oversight.

• Must reside in the USA.
