Senior Product Manager, Product Design, User Research

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define and oversee the long-term product strategy for the user experience of Sophia Learning’s online learning platform.

• Establish and lead ongoing discovery and user research through interviews, usability testing, surveys, and journey mapping.

• Synthesize research findings, behavioral data, and market signals into problem statements, personas, and prioritized opportunities.

• Guide the AI product vision and roadmap across various product areas.

• Lead initiatives that integrate machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI into Sophia Learning applications.

• Advise executive leadership by translating research insights and technical opportunities into business value.

• Establish best practices for design and mechanisms for design review.

• Own the complete learner, partner, and administrative experiences.

• Create flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs, collaborating with Engineering to implement design intent into production.

• Oversee the delivery of a scalable, governed, AI-ready design system.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Data/Analytics, and AI teams on UX success metrics and experimentation frameworks.

• Support initiatives in predictive analytics, personalization, and automation.

• Mentor and coach Product Managers.

• Represent Sophia Learning as a thought leader in AI for online learning, ethical AI, and data-driven learning experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of product design and/or product management experience in SaaS, data platforms, or AI-driven product environments.

• Hands-on design experience with user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI.

• Ownership of product outcomes for complex, cross-functional product areas.

• Proven ability to lead research and translate customer insights into product direction.

• Experience in defining requirements, prioritizing backlogs, owning delivery, and producing wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes.

• Strong understanding of modern design and prototyping tools, component-based design systems, accessibility standards, and component lifecycle management.

• Experience in structuring design systems for agentic development and AI coding tools.

• Ability to bridge technical expertise and executive influence.

• Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional AI initiatives involving design, data engineering, product, and data science.

• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and human-centered AI design principles.

• Exceptional leadership and mentoring capabilities.

• Familiarity with GCP, AWS, or Azure and contemporary data and AI tools.

• Experience with behavioral analytics and experimentation tools is preferred.

• Proven success in collaborating with executive stakeholders and technical leaders is required.

• Experience in establishing or scaling a research or continuous discovery practice is preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Cognitive Science, Learning Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Applicants must have authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

• Must be willing to travel occasionally if business needs arise.

• Must be able to meet critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication requirements.

• Must be prepared to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs dictate.
