Staff Software Engineer – Platform and Cloud Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of canonical data models and service boundaries within a vital platform domain.

• Create robust, backward-compatible platform architectures and reusable abstractions.

• Develop AWS-native, event-driven, asynchronous, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective services.

• Design backend systems that support AI/ML workloads at scale.

• Ensure secure tenant isolation, authentication, authorization, secure token handling, permission-aware data access, and credential management.

• Lead the technical design of major platform initiatives from conception through to release.

• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to convert customer and business requirements into platform architectures.

• Align cross-functional stakeholders with the technical direction.

• Generate design documents, service contracts, acceptance criteria, and API contracts.

• Implement contract tests and permission-enforcement validation.

• Advocate for infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, continuous delivery, and observability practices.

• Spearhead platform modernization and refactoring efforts.

• Contribute across the technology stack when necessary, primarily focusing on backend.

• Remove obstacles for teams and expedite architectural decisions.

• Collaborate with CloudOps, Security, MLOps, and integration teams to uphold reliability and operational-readiness standards.

• Mentor mid-level and senior engineers.

• Promote the practical adoption of swiftly evolving AI capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's and/or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software or Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including a minimum of 2 years at a staff level.

• Proven leadership in architecture decisions across multiple teams.

• Capability to drive technical results among diverse stakeholders and teams without direct authority.

• A strong record of owning significant initiatives from start to finish, including release management.

• High proficiency in Python; experience with Java is advantageous.

• Extensive experience in designing, building, and operating scalable, enterprise-grade distributed systems on AWS.

• Strong skills in data modeling and service architecture.

• Experience with high-throughput data pipelines, asynchronous processing, or ML/inference services at scale.

• Solid knowledge of application security and multi-tenancy, including authentication/authorization, token handling, tenant isolation, and permission-aware data access.

• Experience in designing high-scale API contracts.

• Significant experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD for cloud services.

• Strong understanding of observability in distributed systems, covering logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.

• A habit of staying up-to-date with rapidly evolving AI capabilities and incorporating them into work and designs.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Preferred: experience in building AI/ML product services and data pipelines.

• Preferred: experience with integrating third-party SaaS platforms and connectors.

• Preferred: experience with search and retrieval systems.

• Preferred: familiarity with CLM, contracts, or similar enterprise B2B platforms.
