This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Korea.
• Create, develop, and sustain firmware for wearable sensing devices.
• Integrate microcontrollers and sensors while implementing real-time data acquisition.
• Establish dependable device-to-cloud communication and data streaming for synchronized vision and tactile data.
• Design and manage AWS infrastructure utilizing EC2, S3, Lambda, and IoT Core.
• Oversee large-scale collection, storage, and processing of multimodal data with an emphasis on scalability, security, and performance.
• Develop APIs, ingestion services, and Python data pipelines for high-throughput and reliable processing.
• Remotely deploy, monitor, and maintain device fleets and capture setups at actual collection sites.
• Transform field issues into engineering solutions.
• Diagnose problems across device firmware via cloud deployment.
• Collaborate with hardware, ML, and data teams to outline system requirements.
• Contribute to testing, documentation, and the continuous enhancement of data collection infrastructure.
• Serve as the technical owner of regional deployments.
• Occasional travel to sites may be necessary.
• A minimum of 4 years of engineering experience in embedded systems and cloud technologies.
• Strong skills in embedded systems and firmware: C/C++, RTOS, microcontrollers, real-time systems, sensor integration, and low-level programming.
• Practical experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, IoT Core, and high-throughput, reliable data pipelines.
• Solid software engineering background in Python or similar languages, encompassing APIs, data streaming services, and hardware-to-cloud integration.
• Strong understanding of networking, security best practices, performance optimization, monitoring, and logging.
• Excellent debugging skills across hardware, firmware, and cloud layers.
• Strong sense of ownership and ability to work independently in a remote-first, distributed environment.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in English is required.
• Proficiency in Korean or Mandarin is a significant advantage.
• Experience in robotics, tactile or force sensing, wearables, or IoT devices is a plus.
• Prior experience building real-world data collection systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with ML data pipelines or datasets for robot learning is a plus.
• Experience in deploying and supporting hardware in the field, including remote device management, is a plus.
