Staff Software Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and expand backend systems, APIs, and services for Nango’s open-source platform.

• Develop developer interfaces including APIs, SDKs, UIs, and a runtime environment.

• Work directly with customers to address integration challenges.

• Enhance performance, scalability, and reliability of backend services.

• Influence the roadmap and company strategy by taking ownership of key decisions.

• Engage with the open-source community and manage the repository.

• Oversee core systems from concept and design through to implementation.

• Collaborate closely with developer customers to shape the platform and Nango’s future.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience for senior-level roles.

• Demonstrated capability to scale high-traffic systems effectively.

• Extensive experience with developer infrastructure, APIs, databases, and performance-critical systems.

• Enthusiasm for developer tools, best practices, and creating exceptional developer experiences.

• Proficient in Node.js and contemporary backend technology stacks.

• Excellent communication skills, proactive, and dependable in a remote-first setting.

• Possess a product mindset and developer empathy.

• Pragmatic, positive attitude, and low ego.

• Ready for startup challenges: autonomous, ownership-driven, and capable of navigating uncertainty.

• Located in North America, LATAM, or Europe.

• Experience at a developer-tool company or in developing internal tools for developers.
