Senior Backend Engineer – Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design and create scalable, high-performance, low-latency backend services utilizing Java and AWS technologies.

• Collaborate with product management, frontend, and QA teams to establish technical requirements and ensure seamless platform integration.

• Optimize and improve existing services for enhanced performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Identify and address system bottlenecks to ensure optimal resource utilization and system stability.

• Implement best practices for code quality, testing, deployment, CI/CD, and agile development methodologies.

• Monitor the health and performance of backend services and proactively mitigate potential issues.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

• Build and sustain the core infrastructure that powers Oscilar's SaaS platform for fraud, credit, and compliance risk decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Over 5 years of experience in backend software development, specifically with Java and AWS technologies.

• Extensive experience in building and managing low-latency, high-scale services within a distributed environment.

• Proficient in Java programming, with a thorough understanding of its ecosystem and associated frameworks.

• Familiarity with microservices architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and ClickHouse.

• Knowledge of RESTful API design and security best practices.

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Maven, and Gradle.

• Background in agile development methodologies.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.

• Capacity to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Over 8 years of backend experience with Java in extensive, distributed environments.

• Significant experience with AWS services including MSK, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, and Lambda.

• Solid understanding of distributed system design, messaging patterns, and eventual consistency principles.

• Legally authorized to work in the country of the position.
