Lead Java Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop scalable services for ingesting, parsing, extracting, transforming, and processing data from PDF, DOC/DOCX, XLS/XLSX, PPT/PPTX, HTML, XML, CSV, and scanned documents.

• Create and implement scalable backend services utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Construct document ingestion, parsing, extraction, and transformation pipelines.

• Extract text, tables, metadata, images, and structured data from various document formats.

• Utilize tools such as Apache Tika, PDFBox, Apache POI, iText, or similar technologies.

• Integrate OCR solutions for documents that are scanned or image-based.

• Design asynchronous and event-driven processing workflows using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar platforms.

• Develop REST APIs for uploading, processing, extracting, and retrieving documents.

• Manage corrupted files, parsing errors, unsupported formats, and scenarios involving partial processing.

• Enhance systems for high-volume processing, concurrency, memory efficiency, and reduced latency.

• Engage in system design, code reviews, debugging, and resolving production issues.

• Mentor engineers and contribute to the establishment of engineering best practices where applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend/software engineering.

• Proficient hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.

• Experience in developing REST APIs, microservices, and distributed backend architectures.

• Practical experience with document parsing, ingestion, extraction, or processing systems.

• Familiarity with Apache Tika, PDFBox, Apache POI, iText, or equivalent libraries.

• Strong grasp of multithreading, concurrency, asynchronous processing, and JVM performance.

• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

• Comprehensive understanding of system design, data structures, and API design principles.

• Familiarity with Docker, Git, CI/CD practices, and cloud environments.

• Excellent debugging and problem-solving abilities.
