Staff Software Development Engineer – Fulfillment

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +43 more states.

📋 Description

• Architect, design, and implement highly scalable, fault-tolerant, cloud-native services utilizing container orchestration and automated CI/CD pipelines.

• Employ advanced software engineering methodologies throughout the entire SDLC, incorporating DDD, design patterns, secure coding practices, automated testing, quality gates, trunk-based development, and observability.

• Diagnose and lead the resolution of intricate distributed system challenges, data consistency issues, dependency failures, performance bottlenecks, and distributed tracing complications.

• Collaborate with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to establish technical roadmaps, define requirements, prioritize tasks, and set measurable KPIs.

• Design and implement microservice resiliency patterns, which include circuit breakers, bulkheads, retries, rate limiting, and service discovery.

• Construct and enhance real-time streaming data pipelines through event streaming platforms and CDC frameworks.

• Provide cost-optimized, scalable solutions by leveraging cloud cost profiling, storage tiering, service right-sizing, and architectural simplification.

• Take ownership of reliability, performance, lifecycle, production support, recovery strategies, modernization, and refactoring of existing platforms.

• Standardize the use of emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools to facilitate development and enhance search quality.

• Lead technical risk assessments, architectural reviews, compliance validations, and engineering audits.

• Mentor engineers, offer architectural guidance, conduct design reviews, establish engineering standards, and foster knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software development for enterprise, web, or cloud applications.

• More than 5 years of backend software development experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka.

• At least 3 years of experience with distributed caching.

• A minimum of 3 years in developing within AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar public cloud environments; GCP is preferred.

• Over 3 years of experience in designing, developing, and operationalizing microservices-based web/web services applications in cloud-native settings.

• More than 3 years of technical leadership experience in a matrixed environment, including mentoring junior engineers and cross-functional collaboration.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (high school diploma plus 4 years of relevant experience).

• Familiarity with security threats and patterns, as well as compliance with regulatory initiatives such as HIPAA, PHI, PII, locational, and contractual data restrictions.

• Experience with Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, or Harness.

• In-depth knowledge of functional, imperative, and object-oriented programming languages and methodologies.

• Experience with Cassandra and Postgres is preferred.

• Familiarity with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks.

• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex problems systematically.
