This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, train, assess, and enhance sophisticated machine learning and LLM-based systems for products aimed at both patients and providers.
• Spearhead the technical execution of intricate AI projects and take ownership of solution design and delivery within a specific product or technical area.
• Collaborate with clinicians and product partners to define issues.
• Create datasets and assessments, refine modeling, and deploy systems to production with appropriate monitoring and safeguards.
• Establish evaluation frameworks that include offline benchmarks, human-in-the-loop assessments, and online experiments.
• Construct and enhance data pipelines, training and inference infrastructure, prompt and model management, along with tools for clinical reviewers.
• Work alongside clinicians, product teams, and engineers to translate medical and operational needs into machine learning challenges.
• Set the technical direction, mentor engineers, and elevate engineering and scientific standards.
• Stay updated on AI literature and the evolving landscape of AI technologies.
• Evaluate the real-world clinical and product impact.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• Over 3 years of practical engineering experience.
• More than 1 year of experience in building and deploying machine learning systems, specifically generative AI (LLMs).
• Proven track record of delivering impactful results.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles.
• Ability to produce reliable, thoroughly tested production code in Python or a similar programming language.
• Practical knowledge of prompting, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, and evaluation techniques.
• Comfort in dealing with complex, real-world data.
• Capability to design evaluations to ascertain a system’s effectiveness.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across various disciplines with clinicians, product managers, and engineers.
• Experience applying machine learning or LLMs in healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated high-stakes field (preferred).
• Familiarity with clinical NLP, medical knowledge representation, or electronic health record data (preferred).
• Experience in developing production agentic systems and tool-using LLMs (preferred).
• Background in scaling machine learning infrastructure (preferred).
• History of technical leadership (preferred).
