Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Tools & Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, deploy, and manage software and systems that support Firefox engineering.

• Contribute to developer tools, CI/CD, workflow automation, and AI-enhanced development solutions.

• Take ownership of intricate technical challenges end-to-end across software, cloud, and operational layers, enhancing reliability, performance, observability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Collaborate with Firefox engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and other teams to address issues that cross technical and organizational boundaries.

• Leverage telemetry, metrics, and data analysis to diagnose issues and inform engineering decisions.

• Contribute to architectural and technical strategy by identifying recurring issues and solutions applicable across teams.

• Give back to the wider open-source community.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong software engineering expertise with significant hands-on experience in deploying and managing production systems.

• Proficient programming skills in languages such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; experience with C++ or Rust is advantageous.

• Experience in building, deploying, and managing production systems within cloud environments.

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

• Background in various domains such as CI/CD, containers and orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tools.

• Experience in utilizing data, telemetry, and metrics to analyze technical challenges and inform decisions.

• Understanding of contemporary AI-assisted development tools, including their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate applications.

• Ability to navigate software, infrastructure, and operational concerns effectively.

• Strong communication skills, demonstrating openness, consistency, and respect, along with the ability to teach and assist others in unfamiliar technical areas.
