Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Tools & Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, deploy, and manage software and systems that support Firefox engineering.

• Contribute to the development of tools for developers, CI/CD processes, workflow automation, and AI-assisted development solutions.

• Take ownership of complex technical challenges from start to finish across software, cloud, and operational layers, enhancing reliability, performance, observability, and cost efficiency.

• Collaborate with Firefox engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and other teams to address issues that cross technical and organizational boundaries.

• Utilize telemetry, metrics, and data analysis to analyze issues and inform engineering decisions.

• Participate in architectural and technical strategy discussions, identifying recurring issues and proposing solutions that can be applied across teams.

• Engage in various projects and technical domains, collaborating with teams or existing initiatives as necessary, while independently tackling problems that require dedicated focus.

• Contribute to the wider open-source community.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong software engineering expertise and extensive hands-on experience in deploying and managing production systems.

• Proficient programming skills in languages such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; familiarity with C++ or Rust is advantageous.

• Experience in building, deploying, and managing production systems within cloud environments.

• Proficient in utilizing infrastructure as code tools, such as Terraform.

• Knowledge across various areas, including CI/CD, containers and orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tools.

• Experience in leveraging data, telemetry, and metrics to troubleshoot technical issues and make informed decisions.

• Familiarity with contemporary AI-assisted development tools, including an understanding of their strengths, limitations, and appropriate applications.

• Comfortable navigating unfamiliar systems and working towards their sustainable management.

• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and articulate the connections between software, infrastructure, and operational concerns.

• Open, consistent, and respectful communication skills; ability to mentor and support others in skill development.
