Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Tools – Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, deploy, and manage software and systems that support Firefox engineering.

• Contribute to tools for developers, CI/CD processes, workflow automation, and AI-assisted development resources.

• Take ownership of intricate technical challenges across software, cloud, and operational domains, enhancing reliability, performance, observability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Collaborate with Firefox engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and various teams to address issues that cross technical and organizational boundaries.

• Leverage telemetry, metrics, and data analytics to investigate issues and inform engineering decisions.

• Participate in establishing architecture and technical strategy, recognizing recurring issues and solutions that can be applied across teams.

• Engage with the larger open-source community.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong software engineering expertise and significant hands-on experience in deploying and managing production systems.

• Proficient programming skills in languages like Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; familiarity with C++ or Rust is advantageous.

• Experience in building, deploying, and managing production systems within cloud environments.

• Proficient in using infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.

• Background across multiple domains including CI/CD, containerization and orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tools.

• Experience utilizing data, telemetry, and metrics for diagnosing technical issues and making informed decisions.

• Knowledge of modern AI-assisted development tools, including their advantages, limitations, and appropriate applications.

• Capability to operate across software, infrastructure, and operational aspects.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact openly, consistently, and respectfully, as well as to mentor others in technical skills.
