Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Tools & Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, deploy, and manage software and systems that support Firefox engineering.

• Contribute to the development of tools for developers, CI/CD processes, workflow automation, and AI-driven development tools.

• Take ownership of intricate technical challenges from start to finish across software, cloud, and operational aspects, enhancing reliability, performance, observability, and cost efficiency.

• Collaborate with Firefox engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and other departments to address issues that span both technical and organizational boundaries.

• Leverage telemetry, metrics, and data analytics to explore issues and inform engineering decisions.

• Play a role in shaping architecture and technical strategy by identifying recurring challenges and solutions that can benefit multiple teams.

• Join teams or existing initiatives as needed and independently assume responsibility for specific challenges.

• Make contributions to the wider open-source community.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong software engineering capabilities with significant hands-on experience in deploying and managing production systems.

• Proficient programming skills in languages such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; familiarity with C++ or Rust is advantageous.

• Experience in building, deploying, and maintaining production systems within cloud environments.

• Proficient in using infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

• Broad experience across areas including CI/CD, containerization and orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tools.

• Skilled in utilizing data, telemetry, and metrics to investigate technical issues and guide decision-making.

• Knowledge of modern AI-assisted development tools along with an understanding of their strengths, limitations, and appropriate applications.

• Comfortable working with unfamiliar systems and achieving a sustainable operational state.

• Ability to collaborate across various projects and technical domains.

• Capable of bridging software, infrastructure, and operational considerations.

• Open, consistent, and respectful communicator, willing to mentor and help others develop their skills.
