Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Tools & Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, deploy, and manage software and systems that support Firefox engineering.

• Contribute to the development of tooling, CI/CD, workflow automation, and AI-enhanced development tools.

• Take ownership of complex technical challenges across software, cloud, and operational layers, focusing on enhancing reliability, performance, observability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Collaborate with Firefox engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and other teams to address issues that cross both technical and organizational boundaries.

• Utilize telemetry, metrics, and data analysis to investigate issues and inform engineering decisions.

• Participate in shaping architecture and technical strategy, identifying recurring challenges and solutions that can be applied across teams.

• Join teams or existing initiatives as necessary and independently tackle problems that require dedicated ownership.

• Give back to the broader open-source community.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong software engineering abilities with significant hands-on experience in deploying and operating production systems.

• Proficient programming skills in languages like Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; familiarity with C++ or Rust is advantageous.

• Experience in building, deploying, and managing production systems within cloud environments.

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.

• Background in various areas including CI/CD, containers and orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tooling.

• Experience leveraging data, telemetry, and metrics to analyze technical issues and make informed decisions.

• Understanding of modern AI-assisted development tools, including their capabilities, limitations, and suitable applications.
