Staff Product Manager, Cloud Namespace & Capacity

📋 Description

• Take charge of the complete lifecycle of the Temporal Cloud Namespace, which includes understanding workloads, provisioning, management, setting configuration defaults and policies, performing in-place updates, and ensuring safe deletion.

• Develop and enhance distinctive Namespace offerings that take into account SLA, latency, durability, residency, and cost considerations.

• Manage throughput and capacity, including autoscaling, TRUs, reserved versus elastic capacity, scheduling, visibility, limits, and quotas.

• Lead the establishment of operational policies and features related to Namespace placement, deployment rings, replication, and scaling.

• Define and oversee Namespace SLOs and SLAs, as well as instrumentation and communications regarding performance and reliability for customers.

• Manage Namespace APIs and configurations utilized by customer automation, the Temporal Cloud UI, and other products and services.

• Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to provide reliable, high-performing, and cost-efficient Temporal Cloud capabilities on a multi-tenant scale.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven product leadership experience in shipping and managing platform or infrastructure products.

• Familiarity with balancing reliability, performance, and cost considerations.

• Capability to convert workload requirements into tiering, pricing, policy, quotas/limits, and defaults.

• Comfortable collaborating with engineering on autoscaling, capacity planning, rolling deployments, placement logic, and resilience patterns.

• Experience in defining and managing SLOs/SLAs and leveraging metrics for product-related decisions.

• Ability to align stakeholders across Engineering, Cloud Ops/SRE, Support, Sales, Solutions, and Security.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Competence in producing PRDs, decision documents, and customer-facing explanations.

• Experience with multi-tenant systems, workload isolation, and mitigating noisy neighbors is preferred.

• Knowledge of API product design for long-lived resource lifecycle operations is preferred.

• Background in placement, routing, data residency, or geo-distributed reliability is preferred.

• Experience in developing pricing and packaging inputs with Finance/GTM is preferred.
