Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Engage in incident response activities as required.

• Take ownership of enhancing monitoring, logging, and alerting using Datadog, AWS, Vercel, and associated tools.

• Ensure that systems are observable and that failure modes are clearly identified.

• Assist teams in learning from incidents through postmortems and follow-up actions.

• Balance the need for reliability with delivery speed by applying pragmatic SRE practices.

• Manage and operate critical platform systems across AWS, GCP, Vercel, GitHub, and Cloudflare.

• Enhance the reliability, scalability, and security of both production and non-production environments.

• Maintain and develop the infrastructure that supports multiple services and teams.

• Oversee and enhance CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) with a focus on speed, reliability, and clarity.

• Improve deployment workflows, rollback procedures, and consistency across environments.

• Minimize deployment-related risks and the need for manual interventions.

• Collaborate with engineers and our QA team to enhance release confidence and velocity.

• Improve local development environments and the onboarding experience for engineers.

• Reduce friction in common workflows, including setup, testing, and debugging.

• Maintain tools and documentation that enable engineers to work more efficiently and confidently.

• Collaborate closely with the product engineering team to identify platform pain points and enhance the local development experience.

• Offer guidance and support on infrastructure, deployments, and operational best practices.

• Contribute to platform standards and shared tools through collaboration rather than mandates.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in platform, DevOps, or SRE-centric roles.

• Extensive experience managing production systems on AWS (certifications highly preferred), Vercel, and/or GCP.

• Proficient in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent).

• Strong knowledge of cloud networking, security fundamentals, and IAM.

• Experience with observability tools, with a preference for Datadog.

• Ability to calmly and systematically troubleshoot production issues.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (C1 level or higher).
