Staff Machine Learning Engineer – Platform, Identity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete identity-verification machine learning stack, which includes verifying document authenticity, performing 1:1 and 1:N face matching, implementing liveness detection, presentation-attack detection, and deepfake/injection detection.

• Oversee the feature pipeline, manage threshold tuning, and ensure production enforcement.

• Create identity-graph systems utilizing Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) to identify synthetic-identity rings and coordinated fraud during the onboarding process.

• Develop models based on behavioral and device intelligence for capturing session anomaly detection, classifying bot vs. human interactions, and providing real-time device-fingerprint risk scoring.

• Lead the vendor machine learning strategy by benchmarking external models, designing dynamic routing across different providers and regions, and developing an in-house evaluation framework.

• Mentor and lead both senior and mid-level engineers.

• Collaborate with the ML Platform and Risk ML teams on the design of cross-company machine learning systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in deploying production machine learning systems at scale.

• Demonstrated technical leadership in managing cross-team machine learning architecture from initial design to production implementation.

• Experience in the domain of identity verification, biometrics, or account integrity.

• Extensive applied machine learning expertise in at least two of the following areas: computer vision/biometrics, GNNs, sequence models, or NLP/LLMs.

• Proficient in Python at an expert level.

• Hands-on experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch, covering model training, evaluation, and serving infrastructure.

• Proven ability to translate Know Your Customer (KYC)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements and fraud trends into actionable machine learning roadmaps.

• Strong communication skills to convey trade-offs to stakeholders in Product, Compliance, Risk, and Security.

• Responsible use of generative AI while ensuring human oversight is maintained.
