Staff Pharmacist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Assess and clinically validate new and refill prescriptions for therapeutic suitability, interactions, contraindications, and dosing precision.

• Confirm the accuracy of pharmacy technician's prescription data entry.

• Ensure that filled prescriptions meet standards for drug, dose, quantity, NDC, and labeling accuracy prior to shipment.

• Conduct daily prospective drug utilization reviews and address clinical flags.

• Oversee the handling of specialty medications, including verification of cold-chain processes.

• Provide outbound patient counseling via telephone.

• Manage inbound clinical patient inquiries and redirect non-clinical questions to patient support.

• Record patient interactions in the pharmacy management system.

• Offer bilingual counseling to Spanish-speaking patients as needed.

• Reach out to prescribers for clarification on incomplete, unclear, or inappropriate prescriptions.

• Collaborate with prescribers on therapeutic substitutions, DAW overrides, and formulary alternatives.

• Supervise pharmacy technicians throughout data entry, processing, packaging, and fulfillment operations.

• Perform real-time quality assessments and provide constructive feedback.

• Raise concerns about technician performance trends and engage in coaching and training initiatives.

• Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations, state pharmacy practice laws, federal DEA regulations, and company policies.

• Oversee the handling, documentation, and disposal of materials containing PHI.

• Participate in audits, prescription error monitoring, and near-miss reporting.

• Report adverse drug events and medication errors through pharmacovigilance channels.

• Maintain compliance for storing temperature-sensitive medications.

• Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, patient services, clinical, compliance, and technology teams.

• Coordinate with shipping and fulfillment teams concerning packaging and delivery challenges.

• Provide clinical insights on technological and workflow enhancements.

• Take part in huddles, quality audits, and departmental meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from a College of Pharmacy accredited by ACPE.

• Active Missouri Pharmacy License in good standing with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy.

• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.

• Proven ability to conduct high-volume prescription verification with keen attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong technical skills and capacity to learn pharmacy management systems, verification platforms, and internal workflow tools.

• Bilingual Spanish skills preferred for phone-based patient counseling.

• 3+ years of experience in a mail order, specialty, retail, or closed-door fulfillment pharmacy (preferred).

• Active pharmacy licensure required in the home state; candidates must secure licensure in three additional states within the first nine months of employment.

• Familiarity with pharmacovigilance or adverse drug event reporting protocols (preferred).
