
Staff Frontend Engineer – Design Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Denmark, +6 more states.
• Take ownership and enhance Telescope, Pleo’s design system, which includes components, patterns, guidelines, and tooling.
• Empower product teams to deliver faster with a consistent user interface, accessibility, and quality.
• Collaborate with Design and Engineering to foster adoption and enhance contribution experiences.
• Maintain shared foundations such as tokens, components, documentation, and best practices.
• Establish the technical direction for architecture, component standards, release practices, and quality benchmarks.
• Advance and innovate the contribution model and team interaction processes.
• Manage request triage, prioritization, and expectations.
• Enhance the experience for developers and contributors through tooling and automation.
• Improve visual testing, operational workflows, adoption measurement, system health communication, and documentation publishing.
• Facilitate team rituals and align stakeholders across the Design and Engineering teams.
• Mentor and coach engineers to foster technical leadership within the frontend community.
• Actively contribute code as part of both strategic and execution-focused roles.
• Proven experience in building and maintaining component libraries or platform-type products that serve multiple teams.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and modern frontend engineering; experience with React is an advantage.
• Experience in designing maintainable systems with defined boundaries, versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Familiarity with testing practices and tools, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Strong focus on quality.
• Knowledge of accessibility and best practices for UI performance.
• Experience working collaboratively with designers and product engineers.
• Ability to navigate trade-offs among various stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, active listening, pragmatic leadership, and coaching abilities.
