Staff FPGA Engineer – Simulink

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with a diverse engineering team that includes RF, DSP, Firmware, FPGA, software, and Testing to create reliable embedded processing solutions for communication and networking.

• Implement and enhance the FPGA firmware development lifecycle, starting from MATLAB/Simulink algorithms and requirements definition through to architecture, design, development, firmware implementation, testing, integration, support, and maintenance for cost-effective FPGAs, SoCs, and SoMs.

• Establish and refine comprehensive workflows and best practices for product development throughout the HDL firmware lifecycle, encompassing architecture, design, simulation, verification, and system testing.

• Create microProcessor Interface Control Documents (ICDs) between FPGA and message/data handling frameworks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.

• Proven experience in collaborating with cross-functional hardware and/or embedded systems product development teams, guiding firmware and software from concept to production.

• Over 10 years of experience in designing, implementing, and verifying FPGA-based systems utilizing VHDL or Verilog.

• Experience with code-generation tools to convert MATLAB/Simulink algorithms into FPGA implementations.

• Proficient in C and C++ programming languages.

• Knowledge of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).

• Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, and FPGA devices and technologies.

• Understanding of standard interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, and more.

• Familiarity with flight software architectures and development methodologies for embedded systems.

• Proficient in basic electrical engineering test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators, as well as testing PCBAs.

• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

• Experience with wireless communication systems.

• Expertise in computer networking.

• Familiarity with AI-driven software tools like CoPilot, Claude, and Code-GPT.

• Experience in implementing enhanced security measures.

• Knowledge of high-reliability designs within aerospace environments.

• Familiarity with aircraft systems architectures, particularly redundant systems.

• Understanding of DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, and DO-311A standards.

• Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-461 standards.

• Experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex circuit board designs in communication systems.
