Senior FPGA Engineer – Simulink

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with diverse engineering teams, including RF, DSP, Firmware, FPGA, software, and Test, to create resilient embedded processing solutions for communications and networking.

• Implement and enhance the FPGA firmware development lifecycle, starting from MATLAB/Simulink algorithms and requirements definition, through architecture, design, development, implementation, testing, integration, support, and ongoing maintenance.

• Develop and refine product development workflows and best practices throughout the HDL firmware lifecycle, which encompasses architecture, design, simulation, verification, and system testing.

• Create microprocessor Interface Control Documents (ICDs) between FPGA and message/data handling systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional hardware and/or embedded systems product development teams, guiding firmware and software from initial concept to production.

• Over 6 years of experience in designing, implementing, and validating FPGA-based systems using VHDL or Verilog.

• Experience utilizing code generators to convert MATLAB/Simulink algorithms into FPGA implementations.

• Proficient in C and C++ programming languages.

• Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).

• Knowledge of common microcontroller, CPU, and FPGA devices and technologies.

• Familiarity with standard communication interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.

• Understanding of flight software architectures and development workflows for embedded systems.

• Proficient in using basic electrical engineering test equipment and testing PCB assemblies.

• Eligible to acquire and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

• Preferred: experience with wireless communications systems, computer networking, AI-generated software, advanced security measures, high-reliability aerospace designs, aircraft systems architectures, DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, DO-311A, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, and intricate communications board designs.
