Hardware Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, and deployment of electronic hardware systems and assemblies for the United States Navy's undersea warfare and sensor system programs.

• Design, create, and document electronic circuit boards, electromechanical assemblies, acoustic devices, and related hardware systems.

• Generate engineering drawings, technical data packages, design documentation, bills of materials, schematics, and configuration management artifacts.

• Execute schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout support, and hardware design for both prototype and production systems.

• Sustain drawing packages, engineering change documentation, revision control, and hardware baselines.

• Procure, fabricate, assemble, and integrate electronic hardware systems, subsystems, components, and test articles.

• Create fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing procedures.

• Conduct functional and integration testing, troubleshooting, verification, and validation.

• Integrate embedded software, firmware, COTS software, and contractor-developed software into hardware platforms.

• Carry out laboratory integration and system-level testing to ensure design compliance.

• Analyze test outcomes, identify root causes, and formulate corrective actions.

• Maintain and audit hardware travelers, manufacturing records, test documentation, and engineering records.

• Provide support for developmental, qualification, laboratory, pier-side, and at-sea testing.

• Draft engineering reports, test reports, trip reports, technical memoranda, and program documentation.

• Engage in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, engineering working groups, and customer briefings.

• Assist in field installation, deployment, troubleshooting, and operational testing following Government approval.

• Travel to Government laboratories, test facilities, fleet locations, shipyards, and operational sites as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology.

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout.

• Experience with hardware testing and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).

• Proficiency in schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout.

• Experience in hardware fabrication, assembly, and testing.

• Experience in supporting hardware/software integration and system test activities.

• Familiarity with Navy, DoD, or defense acquisition programs.

• Experience in laboratory, waterfront, shipboard, or at-sea testing environments.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• An active government security clearance is required.

• Ability to accommodate travel to Government laboratories, test facilities, fleet locations, shipyards, and operational sites.

• Knowledge of electronic hardware design and development.

• Understanding of multi-layer PCB design and documentation.

• Familiarity with electro-mechanical system development.

• Knowledge of acoustic and sensor system integration.

• Proficiency in hardware fabrication and assembly.

• Understanding of embedded hardware/software integration.

• Knowledge of engineering drawing development.

• Familiarity with test procedure development.

• Understanding of configuration management.

• Knowledge of hardware verification and validation.

• Familiarity with failure analysis and troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of technical documentation development.

• Experience in prototype and production support.

• Knowledge of laboratory and at-sea test support.
